
Co-founder of the contemporary classical ensemble Piano Circus, Max spent ten years with the group, commissioning and performing works by artists including Arvo Part, Philip Glass, Brian Eno and Steve Reich and releasing five CD’s on the Decca/Argo label.
As Max Richter he has released 3 albums, Memory House (recorded in 2002, the album is due to receive a welcome re-release in 2008 on Fat Cat), The Blue Notebooks (released in 2004, two tracks from the album were featured on the soundtrack to Stranger Than Fiction, starring Will Ferrell and Emma Thompson), and Songs From Before (2006). His new album entitled 24 Postcards In Full Colour is due for release June 2008.
In 2007, Max scored four films; Waltz With Bashir, an animated documentary by Ari Folman that was nominated for the 2008 Palme d'or; Penelope, a Croatian/Australian co-production directed by Ben Ferris; Henry May Long for US writer/director Randall Sharp and Hope directed by Stanislaw Mucha.
