Tom Jenkins is a Golden Reel-nominated Musical Sound Designer, Supervising Sound Designer and Re-Recording Mixer. His work uses the convergence of sound and music to inform a uniquely melodic approach to sound design, inspired by a fascination with juxtaposing weird and wonderful textures and techniques he has absorbed from his varied background in hardcore punk, hip-hop and electronic music. Most recently, Tom worked as Sound Effects Editor on the Oscar-nominated feature Tár, starring Cate Blanchett; as well as Sound Designer on True Detective: Night Country featuring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis.
Tom grew up in Switzerland, Holland and Canada before moving back to England for an MA in Sound Design at the National Film and Television School, graduating in 2016. He has since gone on to work on films that have been screened in competition at Cannes, BAFTA, and the BFI London Film Festival.
In 2016, Tom was nominated for a Golden Reel award for his work on the short film Those Who Are Lost. In 2017 he worked as a Supervising Sound Editor on the psychological thriller The Unseen; as Sound Designer on the first series of Sky Atlantic‘s Riviera, starring Julia Stiles, and was Supervising Sound Editor on Leanne Welham‘s debut feature film Pili for which she won the Best Film award and Special Mention (President du Jury: Claude Lelouche) at Dinard Film Festival and was nominated for Outstanding Debut By A British Director at the 2019 BAFTA‘s.
In 2018, Tom was Sound Designer on Ross Clarke‘s feature film The Bird Catcher, for which he won the award for Best Sound Design at the 2019 Garden State Film Festival, and worked as part of the sound team as a Re-Recording Mixer on Netflix‘s Kiss Me First, and Save Me for Sky One.
In 2019, Tom worked as Sound Designer on the second series of HBO‘s hit series Big Little Lies. Following from this Tom was Sound Editor for TNT/Netflix‘s The Angel Of Darkness, which has been nominated for an HPA award for Outstanding Sound and an MPSE Golden Reel for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing, at the Golden Reel Awards 2021. In 2024, he worked as the sound designer for BBC‘s thriller series The Jetty.
Along with Jessica Jones and Tim Morrish, Tom is a co-founder of sound and music post production agency Audium Post. He has worked as a Sound Designer and Re-Recording Mixer on advertising campaigns for clients as diverse as Barbour, Kew Gardens, Bose, and Deliveroo.
Under the artist name Oli, Tom released his debut EP, csqt01 via Manners McDade.
